Last day in the USA, For a While

Pirate's Cove was the best place for us to stop and spend a few days sitting out the rain and doing marina things.  We were able to take the loaner car into town and shop at Target, Wal-Mart and Wegmans.  We did some needed cleaning onboard Viridian and met several new Loopers at dock ails.  We were able to download the new updated maps for our Garmin Blue Chart Mobile app, a long-awaited feature for our number one route-planning tool.

Today we cast off headed for Oswego Marina, down the Oswego River and into the town of Oswego, NY.  All the locks were going down, and there were seven of them.  For some reason there was no O-4 Lock, but we went through locks O-1 to O-8.  The 24-mile trip was just as nice as the previous trips on the Erie Canal.  We have to say that this segment is one of our favorites.

After exiting Lock O-8, we docked along the fuel dock at Oswego Marina and topped off the tanks with diesel fuel and pumped out the holding tank.  Next we were assigned a slip in a 14-foot wide space and had to shoehorn Viridian into it.  Next we stepped the mast and rigged the Canadian courtesy and yellow quarantine flags for when we cross the Canadian border tomorrow on our way to Kingston, Ontario.  The crossing will be a straight shot north across Lake Ontario for about 53 miles.  A weather window will open tomorrow, and we should have good conditions for a comfortable cruise before more weather moves through later this week.

That's the news and here's some views:
