Coming to the End of the Trent Severn Waterway at Big Chute (22 July 2018)

A red morning rolled up, bringing with it the forecasted rain and wind.  After stepping the mast on Viridian and making all the usual checks, the four boats ViridianMiss NormaGypsy Spirit and Dash Away sailed north in Lake Couchiching past Chiefs Island and into the narrow channel that leads west to Sparrow Lake.  Portlock Channel took us to McDonald's Cut where a Securite call was issued due to the narrow squeeze passage.  We passed through Locks 42 and 43 along the 35-mile cruise and a couple of RR swing bridges and finally tied up at Big Chute Marina just above the dam.

Another homemade supper onboard Gypsy Spirit, this time sponsored by the crew of Viridian.  After burgers and a fresh peach cobbler and ice cream, we listened to stories of travels to exotic places visited by the crews' of Miss Norma and Gypsy Spirit.  A loon soon reminded us that it was Looper's bedtime, so we headed back to our quarters and listened to the rainfall on the cabin roof. Tomorrow we will "ride the Big Chute Marine Railway!

That's the News and here's a few views.
