Short Hop to Alton, IL

Alton is the marina we wanted to get to for taking on fuel and waiting on the Mississippi River floodwaters to settle down.  The best fuel prices around and buy 3 days dockage and get 3 more free.  What a deal!

The Mississippi will crest tomorrow and start going down over the next few days.  We have about 150 miles to travel on the Mississippi and need to carefully study the route and what places are available to dock or anchor along the way.  Alton is a very comfortable marina with a great staff and lots of convenient eateries, shops and grocery stores close by.

That's the news and here are some views:

We are here

Today's route from Grafton, IL to Alton, IL

We have heard that this is the last of the small tugs.  Mississippi tugs are supposed to be much bigger.

Home for now.  The poles allow the docks to move up when the water does, 30 feet up.
