South from Chicago

Enjoyed our short stay in Chicago.  We were so glad to be able to spend time with our son William.  There are a lot more things to see here, but we must keep moving.

Today's route took us back through the Chicago downtown district where we took the tour earlier, but this time we were onboard Viridian and had a much better idea of what we were seeing.

After leaving downtown, we passed under one bridge after another till we got to a commercial barge terminal and had to hide in empty barge parking spots to allow northbound tugs to pass.  Once going down 36 feet in Lockport Lock, we tied up to the free wall at Joliet, IL.  The 30 amp plug was energized, and we immediately turned on the A/C, ate some lunch and chilled a while before joining the crew of Gypsy Spirit for Brats at 6.  Tomorrow, William takes a rental car back to Grand Rapids and flies home to Huntsville, AL, where we will be in about a month, more or less.
